Google Pixel 3 XL Render

Google will be announcing its third-generation Pixel series smartphones tomorrow, i.e. 9th October, at a launch event in New York, along with a few other devices.

As for the India launch, a news report from MSP suggests that both the phones — Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be launched in the Indian market on 22nd October. It further adds that the company will host a dedicated media event to launch the phones.

The timeline for the India launch a couple of weeks after the global announcement seems to be in line with what Google did last year with Pixel 2-series phones. It had announced Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on 4th October and were made available for pre-order in India on 26th October.

The Pixel 3 series will only have iterative upgrades over the previous generation. The design is also similar to their predecessors. Reports suggests that the phone could come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

Previous leaks have revealed that the Pixel 3 will have a 5.5-inch FHD+ display while the Pixel 3 XL will come with a 6.2-inch QHD+ display. Both smartphones will run on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 10nm octa-core SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM.

For storage, both models will come in 64GB and 128GB variants without support for expandable storage. They will come equipped with a single 12.2MP rear camera with a new AI-powered feature called “Top Shot”. On the front, both phones will feature two 8-megapixel sensors. As for software, the devices will ship with the latest Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
