Freshdesk Inc., one of the most funded and most valuable SaaS startups to come out of India, has now rebranded itself as Freshworks Inc. The new entity now brings together the company’s growing suite of business softwares under one umbrella.
The company’s core customer support helpdesk product called Freshdesk will continue to be called the same, but it will now exist under the Freshworks umbrella.
Commenting on this development, the company’s CEO and Founder, Girish Mathrubootham, said,
We realized that the Freshdesk brand was limiting our ability to tell customers what we were all about because Freshdesk was both the product brand and the company brand and most people knew Freshdesk as the customer support product… Now that we have multiple products, we felt that the Freshdesk brand was not doing justice to the other products.
He further added that the company’s team was assisted in this exercise by the marketing team at G Capital, which is an investor at FreshWorks, along with other design and marketing firms.
Girish says that as they expanded their vision and started building more exciting products, they felt that it was the right time to create a new brand that would allow them to tell our multi-product story better.
The company is currently offering four products — the multichannel customer support helpdesk Freshdesk, a cloud-based service desk and IT Service Management solution Freshservice, a full-featured CRM solution Freshsales and a fully functional call centre on the cloud called Freshcaller. However, almost 75 percent of its business comes from Freshdesk.
While Freshdesk, as it was known earlier, started with customer service offerings, it has now expanded to other products such as CRM and ITSM domain. It has more than 80,000 enterprise customers, which include the likes of Swiggy, Cisco, Jaguar, Land Rover, 3M, and Lenskart, among others.
Freshworks is based in San Bruno, California, and has a large presence in Chennai. Till date, the company has raised about $150 million in various funding rounds. In April 2015, it raised $50 million from Tiger Global Management. In November, it raised $55 million from Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners.
While the company has been perceived to be a potential unicorn, Girish Mathrubootham said that they are not focusing on becoming a Unicorn and are looking at growth of the business.
Adopted by more than 100,000 companies in around 145 countries, FreshWorks’ mission is to help companies better engage and communicate with their customers and employees with refreshing business software that is easy-to- use, feature-packed and accessible to businesses of all sizes.
The company competes with players like Zendesk and Salesforce. In some of its offerings, it even against another successful Indian startup — Zoho. Apart from offices in California and Chennai, the company also has offices in London, Sydney, and Berlin. Now, six years after launching Freshdesk, Freshworks has become a global SaaS powerhouse.
