Google is expanding its Android Pay service to a bunch of all new markets. And that is not all. The company is also coming up with new loyalty card benefits for its users. The update follows Google’s announcement yesterday, in which it said that it would allow users to easily switch between any cards they may have used while making payments on the Google ecosystem, through Android Pay.
Android Pay is coming to several new markets including Brazil, Canada, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. This adds 5 more markets to the 10 where Google already had its payments service up and running.
The company also announced a new API which will allow merchants to reward regular customers. This API is called Card Linked Offers and will see merchants engaging with their customers before they even enter the store. Customers will be able to do stuff like discover new, special offers at checkout and avail themselves of loyalty programs.
At the merchant’s end, it is now significantly easier to add loyalty programs that will let their customers accrue loyalty points the next time they purchase something. Companies will also be able to develop Android apps for loyalty, coupon and gift card redemption using a new Google collaboration with Clover.
