Just weeks ago, it was revealed how HTC is coming with a flagship device of 2017 named HTC U 11. What really stood out was the pressure-sensitive bezels that would make the device “squeezable”. The Taiwanese company had shared a five-second glimpse of the phone.
Recently, HTC had published an app called HTC Edge Sense that demonstrated how the Edge sensors of the phone would work. The app has now been pulled out of the Play Store but the screenshots doing rounds pretty much give an idea how the pressure-sensitive bezels can be used.
One of the screenshots is a tutorial to get the user familiar with the squeezing ends of the device. It prompts the user to squeeze the phone’s edges to fill up the balloon and then let go of them by letting go of the sensors. This enables the phone users to get familiar with the squeezable nature of the phone. The sensors could be used to launch the camera, click a photograph and possibly even record a video, also the visuals let you know where the sensors will be represented on the screen when you use them.
But that is not all. The sensors would let you open the Google Assistant and go ahead with your set of instructions and queries. It has also been revealed that with the novel pressure-sensitive edges, you can turn the flashlight, Wi-Fi on or off, and take a screenshot as well.
Back in April, the leaked preview materials of the device showed the option of “Launch an app”, which further suggests using the sensors you can launch an app. However, if that is limited to particular apps or if it’s applicable for all, is not known.
The company is set to unveil this device on May 16th. Watch this space for more updates!
