Slack

Slack is rolling out a brand new feature which is aimed specifically to elevate the standards of searching information in its team chat and productivity app.

While other services provide you with an overview of how the company is structured and who ascends whom, they do not provide any information regarding whom should you reach out to find the answer to a specific question. But Slack’s latest feature now allows you find the most appropriate person capable of answering your problem, along with the channel where they can be found.

This feature has been developed by Slack’s Search Learning and Intelligence (SLI) group.

This feature is available for all the paid subscribers having a team of more than 50 members. This is an advanced search option capable of finding information from the combined knowledge of all the members and co-workers. For instance, from now on instead of meddling with questions about a company’s hiring process, you may directly reach out to a co-worker who frequently handles questions related to this issue  and can even locate the public channels where it’s being mentioned.

This feature will prove useful in occasions when one is interested in some topic, but are not sure about which phrase is to be used to get the most appropriate outcome.

Meanwhile, Slack has also said that this service will be made available to the teams registered under either of the standard, plus, or enterprise plans along with the companies proclaimed as large companies.

While speaking with the VentureBeat, Isaiah Greene, the company’s product lead for SLI said:

The idea behind the number 50 is that teams of that size will have knowledge spread widely enough for authoritative experts to exist, and for people to need help finding them — teams that are smaller will likely benefit less.
