GoPro had a huge role to play into bringing action cameras into vogue. The company has now launched an exchange program that will let you turn in your old camera for up to $100 off a brand new Connected Hero5! The strategy appears to be aimed at boosting the sales of new cameras, although it it will be interesting to see what the company plans to do with all the used devices that will come rolling in if customers take the company up on its word.

The offer is limited to the United States where existing GoPro owners can start trading in their old devices from April 11th. Doing so will make them liable to receive $100 off a new Hero5 Black, or $50 off a Hero5 Session. All previous-generation GoPro Hero cameras can be traded under this scheme. Which means, that you can get a Hero5 Black for $300 and a Hero5 Session for just $250.

Speaking on the topic, CJ Prober, GoPro’s chief operating officer said:

Our Hero5 cameras are the best we’ve ever made. And when paired with GoPro’s new software, they unlock the simplest, most powerful mobile storytelling solution yet. Our Trade-Up Program allows us to introduce existing customers to the modern GoPro experience and prepare our community for the new software enhancements ahead.

To avail this offer, simply visit the Trade Up website and follow the instructions therein.
