It has not been barely a day since news spread out that Twitter was filing a lawsuit against the U.S. government for the sake of protecting the identity of the person/people behind the ALT_uscis account. After Twitter refuted the demands of the DHS to reveal the identity and struck out by filing a lawsuit against he US government, the federal government has dropped its demand.

After the U.S. Government pulled back its requests from the company, Twitter too has dropped its charges against  the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection.

ALT_uscis is one of many alternate accounts that have sprung up since the initiation of Trump’s administration. This account is allegedly run by the one or more USCIS member/members, and therefore, revealing the identity of the people behind this account appeared to be quite important for the government. The account has vigorously criticized the steps the department has taken under Trumps president-ship. Though a number of such alternate accounts are in action by the government employees, but this is the first one which has received the dubious privilege of a government investigation.

On March 14, the Department of Homeland Security asked Twitter to reveal the identity of the @ALT_uscis Twitter account. The company flat out refused and hit back with a lawsuit. The government appears to have realized that it was in the wrong here with regards to the judiciary and has thus dropped its demands.
