Everyone is getting into Television content these days so why not Apple. The company is now considering offering some premium and highly popular channels as part of a bundled service. Under this scheme of things, folks who purchase the bundle would be able to watch all the channels included in the bundle via Apple TV and other iOS devices. This if true, could be a precursor to how the company offers channels on its platform and a move towards a more conventional approach to content subscription.
Th Cupertino giant already offers its viewers the option of purchasing and watching all these channels separately. However, the Recode suggests that the company could be considering a single paid package and towards the same, has approached the three networks about offering these channels in a single bundle. This approach would put Apple on par with conventional TV operators who are known to rely upon a similar approach while offering channel subscriptions.
The pack won’t require users to pay any additional fines or make any additional subscriptions. It will stand as a standalone product which could be used to access some of the most popular content available online. At present, Apple’s pricing scheme for these channels amounts to HBO for $15 a month, Showtime for $11 and Stars for $9 a month.
This is not the first time that Apple is making a move like this. In 2015 for instance, the company attempted to bundle several of its channels together in a bundle that would allow its users to access them using paid subscription. However, that plan reportedly failed to materialize because of a reluctance on the networks and content provider’s part that had to do with un-bundling their products. The company could be embarking on something similar this time around. There were rumors of Apple executives making demands that network providers didn’t want to agree to. The company may try a more malleable approach this time around.
Meanwhile, Apple is also working hard upon creating original content. The has already finished shooting for a show that showcases some of he most popular apps on the iOS stores and how they got there. The Cupertino giant is reportedly considering more original series along with movies, with launch plans aiming for the year end.
