Samsung, C-Lab, exynos

Samsung’s MWC conference was quite eventful. Along with Galaxy Book and the Galaxy Tab S3, the company also announced an update for its Gear VR. After the tablets had been announced, die-hard Galaxy fans were hoping for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy S8 as well, however, they had to make do with a brand new 5G Home router.

5 G is coming as cellular networks move yet another rung up the ladder. With an eye towards capitalizing on the same, Samsung has announced a 5G Home router that according to the company, can enable a top data rate of 1 Gbps.

The company is currently ensuring that its 5G Home routers are serviceable and don’t have any issues, by making them undergo a pre-commercial testing in the Korea, Japan and the US — along with other parts of the company’s 5G infrastructure. While trials are expected to begin as early as this very year, we still don’t have any word upon a public rll out of the same.

Meanwhile, users can place the router at their windows after coupling it with a 5G radio. Samsung is working in conjunction with Verizon to provide the network capabilities required for the roll out — whenever that may occur. Interestingly, the possibility of a 5G capable smartphone by next year was also mentioned.
