Queue management startup Sminq has had close ties with UX-focused software services firm, CodePandara for a couple of years. The duo initiated a partnership towards the end of 2015 to globalize their efforts. The CodePandora team was one of most important tech partners for the last one year. Sminq impressed by the quality of work delivered by CodePandara’s team has now acquired the software platform for an undisclosed sum.

Pune-based Sminq solves the age-old, ever frustrating problem of waiting, by taking physical queues online. The venture is backed by Saama Capital and Blume Ventures, along with Vaibhav Domkundwar. The company founded by Shachin Bharadwaj and Sheldon Dsouza named the startup ‘Sminq’ as an abbreviation for See Me In No Queue.

The mobile platform claims to have more than 100,000 users on the platform. Sminq also has a separate app for vendors, called ‘Sminq for Business’ which lets vendors update customers on when their turn is due and update them in case of delays as well. Currently only available to doctors, it has added more than 100 paying doctors on the app.

Though the amount involved in the deal is yet not revealed by both the parties, it is said to be a mix of cash and equity. Mascarenhas, CEO, CodePandora will now be heading the UX division at Sminq. He will be assisting the startup to realize a broader global vision. Talking about his new role, Mascarenhas said,

We strongly believe in team Sminq’s approach towards addressing the queuing & availability problem. Our mission has always been to develop exquisitely designed software.

Founded in 2012, CodePandara was led by Bjorn Mascarenhas in Pune. The firm provides high-quality UX-focused software services to their clients in India and overseas.

Prior to the acquisition of this software solutions platform, Sminq raised $1 million in its seed funding round. Further, the company’s Co-Founder Shachin Bharadwaj was the founder of food service app TastyKhana. The service was later acquired by Foodpanda in 2014.
