Gionee, the Chinese smartphone maker, is said to be readying itself for the launch two of its new smartphones – A1 and A1 Plus at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The A-series is the upcoming smartphone series that has not been launched yet. Apparently, the company has already sent press invites for the launch event which is to be held on 27th February.

The Gionee A1 smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5 inch full HD display with screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. On top of it, there is a layer of 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass for the added protection. Under the hood, the phone packs a 1.8GHz octa-core processor, paired with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage will be 64GB with an option to expand it further using a microSD card of up to 128GB.

There is also a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. Both the cameras are expected to come with their individual LED flash units. There will also be a fingerprint scanner integrated with the home button as well as IR blaster support.

On the software front, the phone will be running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Amigo OS 4.0 UI on top. Further, the phone will have a 4,010mAh battery and 4G support with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a micro USB port.

Along with the specs, a couple of images of the phone have also been spotted online on a website, showing front and back of the phone. The phone is expected to go on sale in Nepal on 15th March with an expected price of 35,999 Nepalese Rupee (approx Rs. 22,496 in India).

While the information about the Gionee A1 is known as it was leaked a few weeks ago, there is nothing known about the A1 Plus variant of the phone, which is also expected to launch alongside A1.
