Google, Android Wear, Wear 2.0

Google announced the Android Wear 2.0 operating system today. Although the platform has made its debut upon LG’s Watch Style and Watch Sport devices, the Google has promised that it will soon be releasing Wear 2.0 to other, pre-existing smartwatches as well.

As per TechCrunch, the following devices are slated to receive Wear 2.0 update at some point in the future:

  • ASUS ZenWatch 2 & 3
  • Casio Smart Outdoor Watch
  • Casio PRO TREK Smart
  • Fossil Q Founder
  • Fossil Q Marshal
  • Fossil Q Wander
  • Huawei Watch
  • LG Watch R
  • LG Watch Urbane and 2nd Edition LTE
  • Michael Kors Access Smartwatches
  • Moto 360 2nd Gen
  • Moto 360 for Women
  • Moto 360 Sport
  • New Balance RunIQ
  • Nixon Mission
  • Polar M600
  • TAG Heuer Connected

No word was given as to when the update will take place and judging by how Google has been releasing some of its important OS’s of late, the when could mean anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ask people who have been awaiting Android Nougat. Indeed, the Wear 2.0 platform itself was finally launched after having been delayed by several long months.

Well, at least it is a long list and a significant portion of Android Wear users will not have to update their hardware to access Wear 2.0 features.
