Entrepreneurs and enthusiasts are coming up with new ideas of setting up a business in almost every sector, whether it be retail, financial services, hardware, fashion, education or technology. Many of them, through their firms, want to reach masses and help India achieve the goal of digitizing the nation.
The Tech Portal is organizing Pitch Off Season IV, India’s largest Tech conference that celebrates innovation, tech, and startups. It is featuring a never seen before lineup of speakers representing various Global Giants.
We successfully concluded country-wide pitching tour of more than 10 cities and handpicked top 30 tech startups. On the event day, Pitch Off will be putting up a Startup Expo, which will give the shortlisted startups an opportunity to showcase their startups in front of the judging panel comprising top-notch accelerators, incubators, industry experts, and investors.
Here, we bring to you, the four major tech domains that will remain the Highlight at Pitch Off Season IV –
Fintech and digital economy
FinTech is an emerging industry encompassing firms that use technology to offer financial services. It has been growing tremendously in the past few years and 2017 is expected to be characterized by heightened competition and groundbreaking innovations.
The Indian government is focusing on financial inclusion through initiatives such as Aadhaar, payment banks, small finance banks, etc. and post demonetization it is encouraging the usage of mobile wallets, internet banking, etc. It also backed unified payment interface, UPI, that can be used to transact across different banks.
This, the idea of building a “Digital Economy”, has been the priority of government, FIs, and companies.
Keen on promoting the pillars of the digital economy, net banking, e-commerce, and Fintech space, Pitch Off Season IV has partnered with ICICI Bank, RupaiyaExchange, and is inviting executives from fintech companies like Freecharge, and MobiKwik to give their insights on how India is the stepping stone of transforming into a Digital Economy.
Hardware
There might be fewer people venturing into setting up firms specializing in hardware. But since the opportunities in IoT (internet of things), drones, and cloud-based technologies are on a rise, the scenario is changing. Hardware is becoming one of the hottest segment in the startup ecosystem.
Companies are working to build real physical hardware that people can buy and use. In India, there is a lack of a well-developed ecosystem, for example, need to have appropriate lab set-up for creating and testing products before releasing them in the market.
Pitch Off will witness startups of hardware domain pitching in front of renowned investors. It has invited representatives from HCL Tech, Motorola, Digital Ocean among others who are going to talk about the hardware sector. Also, Pitch Off is bringing Qualcomm Ventures that targets startups specializing in IoT, Drones, Automotive, among others.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence has clearly been ‘the talk of the town’ in recent times. It enables machines exhibit act intelligently and rationally.
From natural language generation, virtual agents, to deep learning platforms, robotics process automation, AI technologies are among the ‘hottest’ innovations and Pitch Off believes in promoting this exciting sector. It will have a few startups working on AI and Machine Learning exhibiting their disruptive products at the Pitch Off Expo
Virtual Reality (VR)
Virtual Reality is an upcoming disruptive segment that people are crazed about. Virtual reality creates an imaginary setting by using technology and software to generate realistic images, sounds, and other sensations in order to simulate the user’s physical presence.
Pitch Off will feature participating startups working in Virtual Reality in the varied domains of Education, Real Estate, Gaming, and others.
There is a lot more to look forward to in this edition of Pitch Off, happening in Jaipur, on February 18, 2017, at Birla Auditorium! We will continue to bring more sneak peeks into the event, stay tuned at pitchoff.thetechportal.com
