Earlier today, during an yearly official earnings call, EA shed shared some new information on the highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront sequel.
To begin with, EA Chief Executive Andrew Wilson confirmed that this game will be releasing sometime during holiday 2017. He mentioned that this game will be much “bigger” than the 2015 original, and will feature even more locations and hero characters. And where most of the hype lies, it will also be having a single-player campaign, which EA had previously strongly hinted at a lot earlier.
In addition to that, Wilson stated that Battlefront 2 will be featuring original content from “multiple Star Wars eras”. During this earnings call, he very specifically called out The Force Awakens and Rogue One as films that have expanded the Star Wars series, even though he did not outright confirm that Battlefront 2 will feature characters and locations from these films. It’s a safe assumption.
The first Battlefront has already featured content from Rogue One in the form of the Rogue One: Scarif expansion DLC that includes the heroes Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic and maps set on the planet of Scarif.
Another important announcement during the call, Wilson confirmed that Battlefront 2 is being developed completely in collaboration by DICE, Motive Studios, and Criterion games.
