Honor, the smartphone sub-brand of Chinese company Huawei has today launched Honor 6X in India. Initially, the phone was launched in China and was later made available in the US, UK, and Europe.

In India, the smartphone will be available exclusively via Amazon, for a starting price of Rs. 12,999. It will be available in two variants — 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 15,999.

The Honor 6X comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, making pixel density of 403 ppi. It is powered by company’s own octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor coupled with a Mali-T830MP2 GPU. The internal storage can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

As of the camera, it sports a dual 12MP + 2MP rear camera setup which features phase detection auto-focus and LED flash. On the front, it sports an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone packs a 3,340 mAh battery with fast charging support and comes with micro USB connectivity. It weighs 162 grams and measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm.

Coming to the software side, the Honor 6X runs on EMUI 4.1, which is based on Android 6 Marshmallow operating system. But, the company has said that it will be bringing Android Nougat (EMUI 5.0) to the device at a later date. This update will be made available in Q2, 2017.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS/ A-GPS. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the back of the device.

The phone is equipped to fill the position of a phone with flagship features in the budget segment and will help our consumers to share, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest.

The Honor 6X will be available in three colors — Gold, Silver and Grey. Registrations for the sale will open today at 11.59 pm and will remain open until January 31. The flash sale will take place on February 2, 2017 at 2 pm.

At this price point, the phone will be competing with the likes of Redmi Note 4. However, what sets it apart from other devices in this price range is that the Honor 6X is focused towards the users who are more into photography.
