A pretty massive PlayStation 4 update, which will incidentally be the first large one since September 2016’s 4.00 update, is well on it’s way. Sony confirmed this update news just today in an official PlayStation Blog post, but didn’t share any details regarding the contents it’ll bring, only mentioning that it’s called 4.5 and will have some “improvements and new features.”
As Sony did with the previous 4.00 and other updates, it’s openly inviting its players to beta test the upcoming one before it officially goes live for public. You can opt to try it by registering to access the beta here by submitting your PSN ID–but also note that you need to be 18(or if that’s the age you’ve provided there) or older. In addition to that, there are no guarantees that you’ll be selected for the process.
Also, be sure that you currently have your working email attached to your PSN ID, because that’s the email Sony will use to notify you if you’re chosen.
The beta itself will be starting during early February, and once it begins, Sony will cut off any late registrations.
There has been no word as of yet on when the PS4 4.5 update will arrive for everyone. For comparison’s sake, the PS4 4.00 update became available for beta testers in August before launching publicly in September. So, a calculated guess would suggest sometime in March.
In other PS4 news, Sony recently announced that it sold 6.2 million consoles during the holiday period, boosting the system’s worldwide sales total to more than 53.4 million.
