Elon Musk, Tesla

Everyone hates getting stuck in traffic and we cannot really do much about it, unless we are playing Grand Theft Auto. Our options are limited to honking horns, twiddling thumbs — basically just killing time. However, when its the man who is planning to colonize Mars who gets stuck in the traffic — well, Elon Musk is planning to get rid of the problem by building tunnels.

The SpaceX CEO shared his hatred for jams via a tweet, saying,

Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging.

While everyone thought it was just a another statement made out of utter boredom, we forgot who exactly it was coming from. He confirmed his plan through another tweet just an hour later, saying,

It shall be called ‘The Boring Company.’ Boring, it’s what we do.

Interestingly, anyone still had any doubts remaining, an hour later another tweet followed which said, “I am actually going to do this.” This was accompanied by a change in Musk’s Twitter bio which read “Tunnels (yes tunnels)”.

For all those who don’t know much about Musk, here is a grand list of his entrepreneurship:

He is the founder, CEO and CTO of SpaceX, co-founder, CEO, and product architect of Tesla Motors, co-founder and chairman of SolarCity, co-chairman of OpenAI, co-founder of Zip2, and founder of X.com which merged with PayPal. With an estimated net worth of US$11.5 billion, Musk is the 83rd wealthiest person in the world and was ranked 21st on Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People.

It is also worthwhile noting that US President-elect Donald Trump, who mentioned that he wants to spend $1 trillion to make roads, tunnels, bridges, and airports great again, has asked Elon Musk to be a strategic adviser. Are we perhaps getting a hint of the future that is to follow in Musk’s tweets?

The billionaire certainly has the resources to make his dream come true. After all, settling civilizations on Mars is the scale at which he already plays and as such, boring holes in the earth would be pretty tame.
