OnePlus has announced the launch of a new variant of its flagship smartphone — OnePlus 3T, at a launch event in London. After the leak of specifications, nothing much was left to the imagination other than the pricing information.
The phone comes with an identical design to OnePlus 3. There is no difference here. Most of the specifications are also borrowed from OnePlus 3, with minimal changes in front-camera and battery specs.
It comes with the same 5.5-inch AMOLED Full HD display with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top. It is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor, which is clocked at 2.35 GHz. The processor is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage.
Coming to the camera, there is a 16 megapixel Sony IMX 298 sensor with EIS, PDAF, and a f/2.0 aperture. It supports the shooting of 4K 2160p videos. One of the most interesting aspects of this updated offering is the front-facing camera. On the front, the camera has been bumped to 16-megapixel from 8-megapixel. It uses Samsung’s 3P8SP sensor.
The device is now powered by a bigger 3400mAh battery, which also supports company’s own DASH Charging technology. DASH Charging is said to provide a full day of usage with just 30 mins of charging.
As of the software, the phone is running on an optimized version of OxygenOS, which is still based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow while the next flavor of Android has been out for a couple months. However, we’re expecting that the company will soon roll out an OS update.
It also has a fingerprint sensor built into the home button. As of connectivity options, it has USB Type-C port, dual Nano SIM card slot, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, NFC, GLONASS, and BeiDou.
The OnePlus 3T will be available in Gun Metal and Soft Gold colour variants. It is priced at $439 in the U.S, £399 in the UK, HKD 3,388 in Hong Kong and $599 in Canada. The smartphone will be available from 22 November in North America and the following week in Europe.
Surprisingly, no pricing information has been revealed for the Indian market, which the company has repeatedly described as its fastest growing market. OnePlus CEO has even said that by 2017, India will be the largest market for the company.
