When the time isn’t right, absolutely nothing seems to be going your way. While the actual idiom says “seem”, it is a reality for Twitter at the moment. The outflow of executives from not just its core team back in the US, but from its global teams as well, continues. And this time, its yet another Asian executive — Parminder Singh — who headed Twitter’s business in India and most of Asia, leaving the company.
Parminder Singh (@parrysingh), who has been overseeing Twitter’s businesses in India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East for the past three years, announced via series of tweets, that he is leaving the company and looking for new opportunities. Singh hasn’t specified any particular reason behind his departure. However, he did make mention of the sales restructuring, and that it is hence, the “right time for him to step back”.
An update. After leading Twitter in Asia’s most exciting markets (India/SEA/MENA) for 3 yrs, time to move on to new passions #BeenAPrivilege

This comes on the back of a more recent exit, that of Rishi Jaitly two days ago, who headed Twitter’s India operations. Not song long ago, Twitter had lost another APAC executive, Karen Stocks, who was heading the Australian domain for the company.
Along with this exit, Twitter has also announced in a statement that there will be an overall restructuring of the sales team in the India/APAC/Asia region, with Middle East now being handled by the company’s European team. Southeast Asia & India will remain part of Twitter’s Asia Pacific business, headed by Aliza Knox, company’s VP of Asia Pacific.
The restructuring could well be a part of the broader 9% workforce layoff Twitter announced with its earnings.
Here’s what we received from Twitter :
We thank Parry for his contributions and leadership over the past three years at Twitter. He has been instrumental in setting up a strong business foundation across Southeast Asia, India and MENA, including some of our most promising emerging markets.
Parry felt now is an appropriate time for him to pursue other passions and work on his next adventure to help a content-based startup in Singapore and India. Over the next month, he will be closely involved in transitioning the business to the new leadership for continuity and momentum.
As part of our sales restructuring process, the MENA region will now be part of our EMEA business, while Southeast Asia & India remain part of our Asia Pacific business, headed by Aliza Knox, our VP of Asia Pacific.
Maya Hari is our new Managing Director of Southeast Asia and India reporting to Aliza Knox. Maya previously managed Twitter’s Ads Product Strategy & Adoption for Asia Pacific, MENA and Latin America.
For India: Taranjeet Singh continues to be Twitter’s Business Head for India and remains the key client contact for Indian brand marketers and advertisers.
We wish Parry all the best and will continue to invest in India to make Twitter the best way to see what’s happening right now around the world.
