Looks like it’s early Christmas for the fans who’ve been anxiously waiting for the return of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its threshold setting iconic multiplayer. According to the thousands of gamers via various forms of social media, the multiplayer servers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered have gone live prior to the game’s launch this Friday.

Technically, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s launch, the game Modern Warfare Remastered is bundled with. The servers have actually since gone down, but may potentially go up again soon.

There’s a catch though. Not all of you anxious gamers will be able to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered just as yet. As it turns out, Activision has only activated the servers for consoles, first. No PC players have reported of the servers having gone live just yet, which isn’t too surprising to be honest, given how seriously most publishers treat various digital unlocks on the platform. So For now, any access to the game’s multiplayer is exclusive to the subset of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers alone.

After good long hours of being accessible, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered servers seemed to have gone back down again. A message from the “Dev Team” popping up after servers went down made it clear that the developer was aware of people playing and thus knowingly shut the servers down. However, it was also pretty clearly implied that the game’s servers would be going back up intermittently prior to the game’s official launch.

Modern Warfare Remastered officially releases November 4. Day 1 prep is in full sings as we are heads down making final adjustments to launch. In other words, game servers will be intermittent and unavailable as we make final adjustments before Friday. Thank you for your patience! –Dev Team

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which will be bundled along with the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, officially launches on November 4, Friday. Servers and digital purchases will most probably unlock prior to that depending on time zones, as all the unlocks will be occurring during midnight on November 4.
