The not-so-affordable wireless earphones that defined Apple’s ‘Courage’ and its move away from the headphone jack won’t be available for purchase anytime soon. The Apple Airpods have officially been delayed beyond its expected late October launch as the Cupertino giant needs ‘a little more time’, reports TechCruch.
The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers,
says an Apple spokesperson in the official statement.
There is only this snarky response which states that the Apple Airpods are currently not ready – far from perfect – for a global public rollout. The Cupertino giant hasn’t offered any further details on what seems to be the issue – software or hardware – for the unexpected delay. This update also comes on the heels of the scheduled launch of the next-gen MacBook, which will have their big reveal tonight.
Apple has declined to offer any further updates on the availability of the Airpods, so one can assume that they won’t exactly be available in the coming weeks. The official website, however, still hasn’t been updated and says that you can purchase the Airpods in ‘late October’.
With the launch of the iPhone 7 lineup a month ago, Apple not only introduced some pretty neat innovations but also nixed the beloved headphone jack. To complement the removal of the same, Cupertino surprised and gathered catcalls from everyone with the release of its first pair of weird-looking truly wireless earphones called ‘Apple Airpods’. These little new earbuds became the center of attraction of the event, as they packed in some phenomenal features. They come packed in a small charging case, which when opened automatically prompts you to connect to the earphones.
The Apple Airpods pack in the new Apple wireless chip called W1, which handles all wireless and audio experiences. It also comes packed with a set of optical sensors and accelerometers, which can help you invoke Siri with just a tap on the earphone. It has been designed to use low power and can provide up to 5 hours of continuous music playback.
