In a bid to further strengthen its senior management, UrbanClap – a mobile services marketplace has today announced the appointment of Amit Das – a former Housing.com executive as Vice President of Design.
In his new role at UrbanClap, Amit will be responsible for leading the product development & design function. His prior experience in data visualization & Interaction design, UI design, usability testing, and user research will be instrumental in furthering business goals of UrbanClap.
Amit started his career as a developer in Mumbai after completing his B.E. in Information Technology. He had earlier worked at companies like Fab.com and FusionCharts. Apart from starting his own web design startup named Kria Interactive, he was an integral part of Housing.com as the Head of its Design Team.
Gradually, Amit rose to become Vice President of Design at Housing, where he conceptualized the next generation of housing & buying opportunities with design and data collaboration with its in-house data team.

Founded in November 2014 by Abhiraj Bahl, Raghav Chandra and Varun Khaitan, UrbanClap is India’s one of the largest marketplace for household services. It provides services across more than 80 categories including photographers, salon at home, home cleaning & repairs, yoga & guitar instructors, and many more.
Till now, the company has raised more than $36.5 million in four round of funding from SAIF Partners, Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners and angel investors Ratan Tata, Rohit Bansal and Kunal Bahl.
The company claims to be using technology and smart processes to structure the highly unorganized services market in India. It aspires to make hiring a service professional as easy and straightforward as buying a product from a top e-commerce marketplace.
