Hashlearn, a Bangalore-based on-demand tutoring startup, has today announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from a group of angel investors, which includes Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal, Google India head Rajan Anandan, Anupam Mittal, among others.

Apart from them, other investors who participated in this round include Singapore Angel Network, angel investor Sunil Kalra, former Flipkart chief product officer Mekin Maheshwari, former Flipkart President-operations Sujeet Kumar, Capillary Technologies co-founder and chief technology officer Krishna Mehra and UK-based Taylor & Francis Group’s chief technology officer Max Gabriel.

With the newly raised funding, the company will now further expand its subject categories on the platform and offer more product besides spending money on marketing efforts.

Founded by Jayadev Gopalakrishnan and Gokul Janga, HashLearn offers tutoring, on demand, on mobile. It is a learning network for educators and students. It says that it is building an ecosystem of products and services that facilitate learning for a new generation.

It enables students to instantly connect with reputed tutors round the clock for help in solving problems, understanding concepts or clearing their doubts. The company is currently covering subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths for grades 8-12 with Biology being added shortly and other exam categories in the forthcoming future.

Jayadev Gopalakrishnan, co-founder and CEO of the company, said,

With only 20% of the test-prep market organized, there is a huge market to be tapped in affordable, high- quality tutoring. Our vision is to provide an educator to every student at scale. We have a rigorous tutor recruitment process. Almost all our tutors are from IITs or BITS.

The service is currently offered through daily, weekly and monthly-subscription plans based on grades, subjects and entrance exams. The rates for the service starts from Rs. 97.

Flipkart co-founder and CEO Binny Bansal, who also invested in this round, said,
