Yu Televentures, the fully owned subsidiary of Micromax, has today launched its new smartphone dubbed as Yu Yutopia, at a launch event in New Delhi. It is the most powerful smartphone from the company and is priced at Rs. 24,999.
The smartphone comes in a metal body that is made of aircraft grade aluminium, the same material that is used for the Samsung’s flagship smartphone – Galaxy S6.
It is priced at Rs. 24,999 in India and will be available exclusively via Amazon. The registration for the sale has been started and the phone will be available from 26th December. Instead of flash sale, this time, the company will offer phone on first come, first sever basis.
The phone flaunts a 5.2-inch WQHD display with a pixel density of 565ppi and a layer of OGS with Corning Gorilla Glass 4on top. The display is wide, with an aspect ratio of 16:9.
Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor, which is coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. The processing unit is based on ARM big.LITTLE architecture.
It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. As the phone comes with Hybrid Dual SIM support, the secondary sim card slot can double up as a microSD card slot and thus, the phone also supports expandable storage option of up to 128GB through a microSD card.
There is a 21 MP rear camera with Sony IMX 230 sensor, dual tone LED flash, 192-point phase detection auto focus and optical image stabilization. It also has an 8 MP front facing camera. The camera suports slow motion video recording as well as 4K video recording.
It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Cyanogen 12.1 OS. However, the update for the latest Android version, i.e. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be available soon. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner positioned below rear camera for easy access.
The phone is drawing power from a 3000 mAh battery that also comes with QuickCharge 2.0 support. The battery is said to provide 8 hours of talktime and 300 hours standby. As of connectivity, it comes with USB Type-C port, dual SIM (micro + nano), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi Dual Band, Bluetooth and GPS.
The company has partnered with Airtel to offer double data for six months with the purchase of Yutopia. Then, there is Assured upgrade offer which will allow customers to upgrade to the next Yutopia phone with a guaranteed buyback of 40%. On top of this, there is the SBI bank offer which offers an additional Rs. 1,000 cashback.
