Mazkara.com, a Dubai-based glam-tech startup, which operates in beauty and wellness space, has now expanded its operations and has entered the Indian market. It will commence its operations in Pune and will later expand to other cities.

The company provides cloud-based application to spa and salon owners to help them leverage the benefits of technology in successfully managing and scaling their business. It claims to facilitate 50,000 unique monthly users and 500 appointments daily.

It provides a dashboard for the management of salons and spas through which they can update their listing, interact with customers, view page-analytics and manage their bookings. It publishes real-time offers and deals on its platform without any charge or commission to service providers.

The company started its sales efforts in Dubai with over 50 venues as paid clients and have already received an overwhelming response. As the market evolves, it plans to introduce other matured market revenue models centered around the transactions between the venues and the customers.

Going further, the company’s focused geographies will be Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. In India, it will be looking at marking its presence in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.

Announcing the launch of their services in Pune, Co-founder and CEO, Prasanjeet Roy, said –

Foray into Indian market is a crucial part of the company’s business growth strategy. With a strong beauty and wellness industry and thriving digital consumer strength, India promises to be a challenging market for us. We are geared to win over consumers in India through our seamless and elegant interface and wide choices of services. However, we wish to first carve a niche place for ourselves in the city of Pune by offering consumers a compelling experience and then expand our services to other cities in due course.

Soon, the company will roll out its mobile application for Android and iOS platforms. Equipped with GPS capabilities, the app will help users discover the right salon or spa close to their current location.

Founded in May 2015 by Prasanjeet Roy and Mohammad Ali Akmal, Mazkara raised $500,000 in its first round of funding from Dubai based angel investors, to set up the core Engineering and Content team and for launching its services.

In India, the company will compete against the likes of Vyomo, which recently raised around $2 million from Rocket Internet and had earlier raised seed funding from Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Ventures.
