SONY has decide to take a run at the Walkman, again (we knew it, didnt we ?). This time, things look better though. SONY introduced it’s new Walkman at the CES 2o15, the ZX2.

There’s no taking back that SONY is one of the most  premium companies when it comes to the overall music listening experience. SONY has been in the music business for a long time and the have come up with a new bold and elegant Walkman after all. The new ZX2 is a bit bulky but let’s just say, that it comes in handy with the durability promise that a SONY hardware offers.

It has play, pause and rewind buttons in a round shape that are noticeable and easy to get used to of. It has a gold toned headphone jack right next to the MicroSD slot. The usage of the extra storage might not be necessary since it comes with a whopping 128 gigabytes of internal storage.

The ZX2 comes in with the Android 4.2 JellyBean. So the software used on this device is 2 years old. Hence, the new Walkman will be competing with some of the latest cutting edge devices that provide the latest Android experience.

Specs-wise, the new Walkman supports DSD, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, Apple Lossless, and more. It supports Bluetooth for wireless streaming and NFC for one-touch connection to speakers and headphones.

However, this new piece of hardware  comes at a ridiculously exorbitant price of about $1,200. The price may not seem ridiculous or exorbitant or blatantly inflated to some , given the features it provides but it does put a big dent on the regular consumer’s pocket who may be looking for  a good music experience.

So the new Walkman has it’s pro’s and cons and it’s on you to decide whether you want to put in $1,200 back for all those new features (hardware and software) it provides and more importantly, for the nostalgia which you experiences seeing Walkman coming back to the stage.
