HTC today announced the highly anticipated, 64 bit processor powered, Desire 820 in India. Along with that, HTC also launched the Desire 816G, which is a trimmed down version of the original Desire 816.
As for the specifications, the Desire 820 features a 5.5-inch HD 720p display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. It has a 13 mega-pixel rear snapper, and as HTC claims, the “world’s best selfie camera”.
Desire 820 has been launched in two variants. The Desire 820 variant comes with a 1.5GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, while the Desire 820Q comes with a 64 bit processor.
Apart from these two, HTC also announced the Desire 816G, a trimmed down variant of the original Desire 816. The major difference between the two is the processor and RAM. While Desire 816 is powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, the new Desire 816G is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor.
Although HTC is planning to target the upper mid segment market, but with a MediaTek processor, and a price to the tune of Rs.19,000, this may not result in huge sales for the Taiwanese giant.
