As most of you know, the HTC One M8 has been released almost three weeks ago, but, according to a media report, Taiwan’s HTC Corp. will release a plastic version of its newest flagship smartphone in China next month to undercut the prices of competing products like Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy S5.
The only difference between the current HTC One M8 and the plastic version will be the casing material, as the hardware specifications and software features will be almost the same.
The plastic version of the M8 will cost about 3,000 Chinese yuan (₹ 29000 approx), compared with 5,299 Chinese yuan (₹ 51000 approx) for the metal-clad M8 that went on sale in China April 11, the report said.
HTC One (M8) sports a 5-inch IPS LCD full-HD display (1080 x 1920p, 441ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Compared to the original One, HTC One (M8) is slightly larger and features curved edges but the basic design has not changed much.
It is powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB RAM. The phone is available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants with a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 128GB capacity. The smartphone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the latest iteration of the mobile OS with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI on top.
