After weeks of rumours related to Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone series, the company has now officially confirmed that it will be launching its all-new Xiaomi Play smartphone in China on 24th December.
While the company has not revealed anything related to the upcoming smartphone, based on what Xiaomi has teased so far, it seems that the phone will be focused on entertainment and gaming.
There are reports out there claiming that the Xiaomi Play is the rebranded model of Xiaomi POCO’s Pocophone F1 affordable flagship smartphone for the Chinese market. However, the company has not confirmed this yet.
The Pocophone F1, known as Poco F1 in India, was first announced in August earlier this year and has now made its way to a few other regions. The phone was first launched in India, marking the Chinese company’s first success in the country’s premium smartphone market.
As for the specs, the Poco F1 sports a 6.18-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ notched display and is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 flagship processor with LiquidCool technology.
It comes with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera powered with artificial intelligence technology.
The phone comes with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage, depending on the variant. It runs on the company’s MIUI with Poco Launcher, based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging.
