iOS 12.1 beta is set to be released, and Apple has said that the highlight of this update will be a slew of new emojis. Not 10, not 20, but a total of 70 new members will be joining Apple’s emoji family. The new emojis will form part of Apple’s developer and public beta previews of iOS 12.1, and will be available in the software updates for iOS, macOS and watchOS.
In a blog post on the topic, Apple said:
More than 70 new emoji will be coming soon to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, including new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food.
In a nod to diversity, Apple said that it was working with the Unicode Consortium to add more disability-themed emoji to the keyboard for Unicode 12.0. The company plans to release them come 2o19.
