After cars, it could soon be music streaming for Tesla. As per a new Recode report, Tesla has already engaged in talks with various recording labels in order to make this come about.

If these reports really are true, then what we could have first would be a Pandora like service initially exclusive to Tesla vehicle owners. Eventually, this could be changed and the product expanded to include others as well. I suppose the plan should’t really come as surprise. After all, Musk had expressed am interest in music products at Teslas last shareholders meting. And we know, the time frame between thought and action for Elon Musk isn’t all that long.

At the meeting, Musk had remarked o the difficulty of finding good playlists and music. At that time, he had put it down to bad matching algorithms. He had also said that Tesla  was working to correct all these issues and that the company will make an announcement regarding the matter later in the year.

Meanwhile, the business starts making more ad more sense as something Tesla should do the longer you think about it. With the connected cars of the future, services is going to be a very important thing. Particularly, in-car services. And it would be ridiculously easy for Tesla to sell them as well. And extra $10 added to someone’s monthly EMI for a car.

So yeah, music could well be the right choice for the company. And judging by the speed at which Musk operates, it won’t be long before we see another Spoitfy and Pandora competitor enter the field.
