Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is anything but boring. Musk’s ventures are anything but boring anyways and the idea of tunneling below our feet, so as to create pathways for traffic, Hyperloop and so on — is pretty exciting. Well, the company has recently unveiled its first real piece of hardware and it is pretty damn huge.
The mammoth tunnel digger was unveiled by SpaceX engineer Steve Davis. Davis is a senior SpaceX executive and runs its advanced projects division. Considering that Elon Musk’s tunneling adventures have yet to take a complete shape, he has been borrowing a couple of key employees from some of his other companies to run things.
So Davis recently posted a picture to Instagram, which shows a gargantuan tunnel digger. And we are not talking teeny, weeny tunnels here either. The machines are huge! Take a look at them by clicking this link.
The tunnels are expected to house anything from cars and buses to subways. And why stop there? If the SpaceX and Tesla CEO has anything to say about the matter, we could even have Hyperloop pods running inside the tunnels someday.
All this follows an incidence when Musk found himself stuck in a traffic jam. The SpaceX CEO said that he was going to build tunnels and in a matter of mere months, a company has already been set up and is tunneling away. There is still going to be quite a while before the company starts actually creating tunnels and opens them to the public — however, with a machine like this, things sure look much more optimistic.
Let’s get boring!
