So, we have been all sorts of interesting rumors about the upcoming galaxy S8. The phone has yet to make its way to the public and apparently, Samsung has shifted the release timetable for the flagship smartphone by yet another week. The device is now expected to release globally on April 28th.
This comes on the heels of the initial plan to launch the device on April 21. While no reason for the delay has been given — the company has yet to accept the schedule for S8 devices, all we know is that they will be unveiled near the month end — there are people saying that Samsung doesn’t want to rush the device.
After all, the company rushed the Galaxy Note 7 and look how well that turned out.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to unveil its device before the press, come the 29th of March. It was initially being hoped that the South Korean smartphone maker could make use of the Mobile World Congress for the launch. However, as we saw, Samsung used the event to flood the public with a slew of new tablets, keeping the S8 device for later.
It did send out events for the Lincoln Avenue event slated for March end though, where it is expected to showcase the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for the first time ever. From what we know, the devices — 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ — are pretty much the same apart from the difference in their size.
The news that the launch has been shifted by one week will give LG yet another week to sell its G6 without comparable competition. The G6 is expected to launch globally near the first week of next month and having no one around the date — particularly the S8 — would probably be great from LG’s sales perspective.
