Pokemon Go, the AR-based gaming phenomenon, was all the craze this summer. The game combined the nostalgia of pocket monsters and the dream of catching them one day into a compact and powerful mobile app. It got people to finally get up off their couches and stroll about their neighborhoods, trying to catch that mouse-like Pikachu.
The popularity and craze for the same died down in the following months, either due to unavailability of some features or lack of reach of the game to maximum parts of the globe at the same. Game developer Niantic Labs has been working continuously to keep the game afloat with the debut of new features, a tracking system and of course some second generation Pokemons as well. And now it is looking to again get the trainers move out, meet others and catch a lot of Pokemons hiding around in the snowy landscape.
In an official blog post, the company has finally detailed its plans for the Holiday promotion event that will run through Christmas and New Year’s as well. Now listen closely if you’re still interested in catching Pokemon or hatching some eggs, the developers at Niantic have divided the year-end event into two halves based on their timelines. There is a lack of double XP or candy for your buddy Pokemon but you possibly can expect a flood of ‘newly added’ Pokemons on street, confirms Niantic.
For the first half of the event, which will run from December 25 until January 3 will enable you to collect a hoard of single use incubators. It will be made available to you through Pokestops which will dish out one of these incubators each day. The trainers can use these to hatch the new baby Pokemons — Igglybuff, Clefa, Togepi, Pichu, Elekid, Smoochum, and Magby — which have been added to the game recently. There is also more probability of these baby Pokemon eggs being awarded at the Pokestops (which are in abundance in India, thanks to Jio).
As for the second half, this event will be flagged off alongside the first one. Starting on December 30 and continuing until January 8, it will increase the spawn rate of original starter Pokemons seen in the Kanto region and their evolutions.
This means a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, as well as Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, plus Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise!
Also, this timeline also enables Pokemon Go trainers to place and activate Lure modules at Pokestops for 60 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes. It will further increase the spawn rate of Pokemons in your region, thus adding to your advantage. The cute holiday Pikachu with a Santa hat was scheduled to disappear from the game by December 29th but now the festive mouse will remain within the game for a longer time period. So, you can expect one to pop up on your radar and give you another valid excuse to stroll about in the snowy weather.
