Decision making and data insights platform SurveyMonkey has decided to downsize its Australian sales team as it carries out the global transition of its market research product Audience back to self-serve. The move will witness Australian sales staff of six leave the company by the end of March next year.

The announcement comes a few weeks after SurveyMonkey revealed the plan to shut down its mobile app analytics service, Intelligence, just after eight months of its launch. The company attributed the closing down of the app due to lack of customer support and that it wants to focus on transforming from app analytics service to comprehensive market intelligence for their core customers. SurveyMonkey, stating a similar reason, said they want to focus on their core model of self-serve. Also, Managing Director of Asia Pacific for SurveyMonkey, Tony Ward will be leaving the company early next year. He said,

SurveyMonkey is a self-service product, and what we’ve decided is that as a strategy, it has worked very successfully for us since 1999.

Australia, being the third largest market for SurveyMonkey globally, shows an 116% year-on-year growth. Ward added phasing out will affect just over 100 of the more than 55,000 businesses using their services across Australia. Having opened its Asia-Pacific headquarter in March, its Sydney office will continue to remain a vital hub for Asia Pacific customer operations and identify key customer insights to accelerate product development.

The decision making platform will be primarily focusing on optimising the business experience further as over 80 percent of its paying clients use the service in a business context. Also, it will work on developing new products or packages on top of its survey platform customised for various people within an organisation, offering them with specific insights for their particular role.
