BlackBerry has today launched its two new Android smartphones — DTEK50 and DTEK60 in the Indian market. The DTEK50 was originally launched in July while the DTEK60 was launched just last month.

The BlackBerry DTEK60 and DTEK50 are touted as the world’s most secure smartphones. Before these, the company had launched BlackBerry Priv, which was the first smartphone from the company to run on Google’s Android OS.

It must be noted that BlackBerry is no longer manufacturing smartphones and is only focusing on software as of now. The company is now outsourcing hardware manufacturing and these two new smartphones are manufactured by Alcatel.

BlackBerry DTEK50 comes with a 5.2-inch full-HD display with a pixel density of 424ppi. It is powered by a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB.

As of camera, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element lens with a f/2.0 aperture. It has an 8-megapixel fixed focus camera at front with an 84-degree wide-angle lens.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, FM radio, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC. It is powered by a 2610mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 2.0. It is said to deliver up to 50 percent charge in 51 minutes, with up to 17 hours of talk time.

On the other hand, BlackBerry DTEK60 features a 5.5-inch QHD display with a pixel density of 534ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM. There is 32GB internal storage with support for 2TB of expandable storage.

The smartphone has a 21-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element f/2.0 lens. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel fixed focus camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.2 aperture. The phone is the company’s first to sport a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

It packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery which is rated to deliver up to 26 hours of talk time and up to 14 days of standby time. The phone also supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC.

Both smartphones are running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the company’s own skin on top. While the DTEK60 comes with a fingerprint sensor, the same is missing in DTEK50.

In India, the DTEK50 and the DTEK60 are priced at Rs. 21,990 and Rs. 46,990 respectively. The DTEK50 will go on sale from this weekend, while the DTEK60 will go on sale in early December.
