With an exponential growth in the demand of 4G technology in the Indian market, Samsung has decided to ensure that all of the smartphones it launches in India in the future, are 4G enabled. According to Counterpoint Research, India has over 250 million smart phone users, but not even 100 million of those handsets support 4G. That is exactly where Samsung is hoping too capitalize with its new announcement.
Speaking on the topic, Tarun Pathak of Counterpoint Research says,
People are now carefully evaluating the phone and checking if it has 4G-LTE support before purchasing it.
He also added that Samsung’s move was anticipated as almost four in five smart phones sold in the next couple of quarters are estimated to be LTE phones.
According to Manu Sharma, VP of mobile business for India
Nearly 80 percent of the smart phone users have shifted to 4G-enabled handsets. All the future launches, including entry level segment, will have 4G facilities and we will sell 4G devices.
The launch of Reliance’s 4G only network, Jio which has offered data services to all its customers free of cost for months has ensured a promising demand in 4G enabled smart phones. Samsung has seemed to have jumped at opportunity at the right time and decided to launch all their smart phones with 4G.
This phenomenal amalgamation of the easy on the pocket 4G enabled smart phones with free of cost 4G data is now offering the best of both the worlds to the Indian market. Samsung appears to be hoping to capitalize on the same. The South Korean company’s move is bound to shake things up as its market competitors will now have to adjust their own strategies as well.
Meanwhile, Samsung has also introduced its improved version of My Galaxy App, namely, the ‘all-in-one app’, which offers entertainment — music, video and gaming features — along with billing and credit services, health data and much more. The app is being updated on all Samsung Galaxy smart phones in India running Jellybean or above. You can also download the application separately from the Google play store.
