ASUS, one of the darlings at the annual industrial exhibition IFA in Berlin announced the launch of its upcoming addition to the ZenWatch family of Android Wear smartwatches. It’s called the ZenWatch 3, and things take a turn for good from this point onwards.
The ZenWatch 3 divulges from the monotonous design of the previous two generations of the ZenWatch to introduce a sleek and new circular design with three side buttons. The watch, as described, has been designed to offer you timely information at a glance, alongwith a full-featured fitness tracker. Now, lets talk about the beautiful and customizable wearable device that has been waiting for our attention. With an ultra-thin 9.95 mm profile, the ZenWatch 3 is definitely a looker and better built than its square-shaped predecessors. It’s been manufactured using jewelry-grade 316L stainless steel and is available in three gorgeous finishes: Gun Metal, Silver and Rose Gold. The new smartwatch can also be paired with a wide variety of high-quality interchangeable straps.
As mentioned before, the ZenWatch 3 is lined with a three crown buttons. These crown buttons provide quick access to frequently used functions, such as opening the ZenFit app or changing the display mode. The top button, on the other hand, can be assigned a custom functionality. One could also customize the watch with more than 50 software watch faces that can be changed using the ZenWatch Manager smartphone app.
Laying more focus on fitness, the ZenWatch 3 also features an all new redesigned activity tracking app called ZenFit. The app counts the users steps throughout the day, and as described on the stage, the readings are 95 per cent accurate. It also provides some easy-to-understand summaries and sends timely reminders for you to move your lazy butt and walk — probably catch some Pokemons as well.
On the hardware front, the ZenWatch 3 is powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. The 1.39-inch AMOLED circular display has resolution of 400 by 400 and a pixel density of 287ppi. The smartwatch is IP67 water and dust resistance, and can be charged from 0 to 60 per cent in just 15 minutes using HyperCharge Technology. On a full charge, Asus promises a battery life of upto two days.
