Adding yet another handset to the ever grwoing list of selfie-focused smartphones, Gionee has today took the wraps off its new  the S6s. The phone is an upgrade to the Gionee S6, which was launched in February this year.

Initially, the phone will be available exclusively via Amazon India. Later on, it will be available at other online retail stores as well as through offline channels. It will be available in Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver colors, for a price tag of Rs. 17,999.

The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, same as of S6. The display has a 2.5D arc glass on top. It is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT 6753 processor and 3GB RAM.

While the company is offering 32GB of in-built storage, it is also providing a microSD card slot so that the users can attach another 128GB of external storage. Running the device is Android Marshmallow OS based Amigo OS 3.2.

As for the camera, it features a 13-megapixel rear camera with F/2.0 aperture. Since the phone’s major highlight is selfie camera, the front is an 8-megapixel F/2.2 camera. Gionee has also included a High CRI front flash. The original S6 has a 5 MP front camera.

The camera offers various modes including Professional, Face Beauty, HDR, Panorama, GIF, Night mode, Smart Scene, Mood Photo, Slow motion, Macro, Text recognition, Time-lapse, Smart scan, Ultra Pixel, and PicNote.

The Gionee S6s is backed by a 3150mAh battery pack. It comes with the usual connectivity features including 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It also supports On-The-Go (OTG) connectivity.

It will be interesting to see how the smartphone performs in the market at this price point, given that many smartphones with better specs are available at much lower price than this S6s.
