If you’re an Indian, you know how finding a domestic help worker in India is one hell of a task. BookMyBai.com, a Mumbai-based startup has however secured around Rs. 1 crore in angel funding from 50k Ventures, to help you get around those exact troubles.

Vineel Nalla, CEO of NBOS Technologies and founder of 50K Ventures also participated in the funding round.

With the new cash coming to the company, it is now planning to use the fund to expand its operations by the end of next fiscal year. It is planning to expand to another 10 cities across India. Currently, the company is operating in Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.

Founded around six months ago by Anupam Singal and Vikash Chowdhury with the aim of providing reliable house help, BookMyMaid.com is an online platform to hire permanent domestic helpers like maids, cooks, babysitters or nannies and caretakers.

The company’s vision is to be the India’s largest aggregator for domestic maid bureaus; to build a place where anyone can come to discover and hire any domestic help they want.

It works through a combination of proprietary database along with aggregation of trusted and verified maid bureaus. The unique selling point of the company lies in its recorded video interviews of the people it offers for hiring.

The company has a database of more than 12,000 domestic helps who are ready for employment. As per the company, it has been successful in placing 500 domestic helps in Mumbai every month.

The domestic help market in India is estimated to be worth about $7 billion and is highly unorganized and non-professional – -as one would already know. BookMyMaid, and similar startups — with a focused approach, could very well redesign the domestic help hiring sector in India.
