So yeah, you can book/maintain private jets online too, and right here in India. JetSetGo, an online marketplace for private jet and helicopters has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in its fresh funding round from YouWeCan Ventures, a VC firm started by Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
Although the financial terms along with the investment sum is not disclosed, it is known that the VC firm typically invests around 1 crore to 1.5 crore for 12-15% stake of the company.
JetSetGo was founded in 2014 by Kanika Tekriwal and Sudheer Perla. The Delhi-based start-up caters to India’s private jets and helicopter sector by offering operators and consumers a variety of services, including crew, maintenance, costing, availability of aircrafts, as well as access to services and spares.
Speaking on the deal Sudheer Perla, co-founder of JetSetGo said
Our clientele not only comprise corporate houses, sports personalities, celebrities or HNI’s but also those who see value in quick and easy connectivity to locations still not served by commercial airlines. The decision to partner with YouWeCan was an easy one because who better to have as an investor than a customer himself. This goes to show the value we are adding as only a customer can understand the bottlenecks we are removing and the market we are opening up.
It is a platform driven by interactive technology which enables users to search and charter aircrafts and helicopters across the nation. The company claims to have got on board almost 80% of India’s private jet fleet.
The purpose behind JetSetGo’s existence is pretty much similar to that of Uber. There is a need for professional and comprehensive charter service providing a variety of aircrafts with a “transparent pricing system“. The private aviation industry in India is nascent and users are generally recommended aircrafts that suit brokers more than the users. JetSetGo is set to change this and make private jet charter economical and simple.
Nishant Singhal, cofounder and chief investment officer at YouWeCan Ventures, said,
Addressing real stakeholder problems with superior service offerings for private aviation customers, we see JetSetGo evolving to be the new travel platform for a rapidly growing high-end luxury experiences market. With our involvement and endorsement by Yuvraj, the business will charter new territory.
While YouWeCan’s previous investments were in more generalised sectors, its current one is a rather interesting one.
Since the formation of YouWeCan Ventures about three months ago, this is the fifth investment for the venture capital firm. It has earlier invested in Moovo – an on-demand logistics platform, Healthians.com – a healthcare marketplace, Edukart – an education service marketplace and Vyomo – a beauty and wellness platform.
