Looking to continue its unquestionably glorious run in the Indian smartphone market (keeping aside some petty patent disputes), Xiaomi today launched its first tablet into the Indian market, the Xiaomi MiPad. The Chinese company also announced its next-gen Redmi model, the Redmi 2.

The Mipad comes powered with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC Cortex-A15 clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with a 192-core Kepler GPU. Those combined, make the MiPad, one of the most performance-intensive tablets out there in the Indian market. In fact, it won’t be too much to say, that MiPad will give Apple’s iPad a run for the money, at least in the Indian tablet market.

As for display, the MiPad has a 7.9 inch screen, shielded by Corning’s toughened up Gorilla Glass 3. And at resolutions of 1536 x 2048 pixels, the screen delivers stunning colors and a crisp display, giving you 324 PPI, way above the “retina” mark.

The MiPad comes with an 8 Megapixel rear snapper, and a 5 megapixel front shutter. Both cameras are good enough for night-mode photography as well. he rearone can record HD videos at 1080p and comes with features like Geo-tagging and OIS.

The tablet runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 6 atop it.

The pricing ? Well, it costs just Rs. 12,999, making sure that not just the flagships, but even the mid-range phones by some of the top brands do not get into consumer hands.

The MiPad will be available for you to buy, on Flipkart from March 24th.
