HMD Global, which now holds the license for the Nokia brand, is all set to enter the US market by launching its Nokia 6 smartphone in the country. The smartphone, priced at $229, will be available through Amazon from early July.

While the company has launched three smartphones — Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, along with a feature phone — Nokia 3310 (2017), it is launching the premium mid-range device, Nokia 6 in the US.

Until now, Nokia announced the global launch of its devices but there was no information about the company’s re-launch in the US market.

The Nokia 6 is the largest of the three Android phones that HMD Global announced at Mobile World Congress. It features a 5.5-inch display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 display.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, along with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. On the software side of things, the 6 runs Android Nougat in its purest version — with no bundled apps or overlaid skins.

It has a 16MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-shooter. The phone is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The Nokia 6 has a metal unibody design built out of a single block of aluminum, which adds a premium touch to the otherwise mid-range device.

HMD Global vice president for the Americas, Maurizio Angelone, said,

It brings us great pleasure to introduce a new generation of U.S. fans to Nokia phones, while offering existing fans the same unparalleled and high quality Nokia phone experience they have come to love over the years. The Nokia 6 exemplifies our commitment to best-in-class performance, design, and craftsmanship, and we are proud to offer American consumers a smartphone option that will not require them to sacrifice quality for cost.

The news of Nokia 6’s US launch comes just a few days after the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 were launched on preorder through Amazon in the U.K.. However, there is no word yet on whether the Nokia 5 or Nokia 3 will be available in the US too.
