Our insistent wait for this year’s flagship killer will soon come to an end as OnePlus has today announced that the OnePlus 5 will make its official debut on June 20 at 12:00 p.m EST (or 9:30 p.m IST). Much like every year, the Chinese smartphone maker will take center stage in its hometown, coupled with several popup live events across the globe, to give consumers the first look at this much-awaited device.

The Chinese smartphone giant isn’t dropping any deeds on the specification of the device, except for the hint that the OnePlus 5 will feature a dual-camera setup. The said fact has already been ousted through several leaks which have been flooding the interwebs but OnePlus has today confirmed the same using the Focus on what matters tagline.

It is also sending out the following launch invite to newsletter subscribers:

In addition to the launch invite, which dropped earlier today, Android Police has got its hand on a OnePlus 5 render image. This is potentially the most accurate image of the device, as claimed by the publication, who corroborated the details with several sources.

One fine look at the render image attached above should blow your brains out, courtesy of the sleek and bold design of OnePlus 5. The image confirms that the device will feature an edge-to-edge bezel-less display but the massive top bezel is spoiling the fun for me. OnePlus is expected to launch this device in competition to Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, and HTC U 11, thus, the huge bezel at the top can surely be a buzzkill.

It can, however, be confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will feature a dual-camera setup on the rear of the device. Other features of this device aren’t immediately visible but the trademark ’embossed’ mute button will surely make a return to this slender smartphone.

As for what we already know about the device, the OnePlus 5 will be powered by the latest and greatest from Qualcomm, which is the Snapdragon 835 processor. It has also announced its partnership with DxO Mark to deliver an enhanced camera performance, along with several color options.

In addition, the rumor mill has recently been sounding the alarm saying that the OnePlus 5 will be priced higher than we’ve come the flagship killer to be priced until date. The Chinese giant is looking to compete with the big daddies of the smartphone business and wants to keep the pricing competitive — to possibly understand its standing in the current market scenario. We presently have no concrete info on the pricing, for which we’ll have to wait until the launch event on June 20.
