Andy Rubin, who’s widely recognized as the creator of Android, has kept himself hustling through the creation of his new company, known as Essential. While we’ve already received glimpses of an upcoming smartphone, the company has today unveiled its official Twitter account to tease us even further. And we now have a formal announcement date in the form of May 30, when Rubin attends Recode’s Code Conference.

Essential Products, Inc. is a creative project that has been in the works for quite some time now. The same was first made public by Rubin back in January of this year and Android enthusiasts across the globe were beyond excited to know what he’s been upto since his departure from Big G in 2014.

Fast forward to March, our craving was satisified with a sneak peek (actually a teaser photograph) of a bezel-less smartphone which now resembles the likes of Galaxy S8 and LG G6. As seen in the image attached above, the ‘Essential’ smartphone was held in a way that you could only get a glimpse at the curved edge and display of the device. It was later in the day that the phone confirmed to be running Android — the software Rubin created — but will it be heavily customized is still unknown.

But, now we have something more substantial than just leaks and rumors. We possibly have an unveiling date at our hands as the ‘Essential’ Twitter account mentions that ‘something big’ will arrive on 30th May. And what announcement could possibly be even bigger than the unveiling of the much-awaited smartphone itself?

Thanks to a previous Bloomberg report, we’re already aware that Andy Rubin’s Essential smartphone will include metal sides and a ceramic back. And if you look closely at the featured image attached above then you will notice that screen stretches to the top of the smartphone. Is it possible that Essential may be adopting a Xiaomi Mi Mix concept design, where-in the speaker is under the screen and the front camera is embedded in the minimal bottom bezel?

But as you can see in the tweet attached above, there’s another nifty accessory Essential has been working on. Earlier in April, Rubin had teased everyone about the same by tweeting a picture of his colleague working on a 360-degree camera setup. The teaser image attached above hints towards the same because some individuals didn’t only see the slight circular sheen on the bulge at the top. The said individuals went into Sherlock mode and made few edits to the picture to reveal that it actually looks like a 360-degree camera.

Presently, the company has decided not to dole out any more information — not personally or via the Twitter account. Who’s beyond excited for the unveiling of this new Android smartphone on May 30?
