Twitter is not taking well to bullying at all. After the Department of Homeland Security asked the social networking platform to reveal the identity of the person behind the @ALT_USCIS account, the company has lodged a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland security. In its filing, the company has described the summons as unlawful and has refused to provide details about what is claimed to be an alternate-USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) account.

The Alt_USCI is just one of the many alternate accounts that sprung up after the inauguration of the Trump government. Reportedly, the account is actually run by employees of the USCIS. So you see, the unmasking of the persona behind the account would be a big thing — more so considering that it has vehemently criticized many of the policies that the department has been implementing. As such, a revelation would probably not lead to the person behind the account receiving laurels.

In its filing against the decision, Twitter said:

Specifically, on March 14, 2017, they issued and delivered to Twitter an administrative summons (the “CBP Summons”) demanding that Twitter provide them records that would unmask, or likely lead to unmasking, the identity of the person(s)responsible for the @ALT_USCIS account. The summons was issued by a Special Agent in Charge within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, another unit of DHS. The CBP Summons is unlawful and must be enjoined…

It is actually very interesting, Many of these Alt accounts claim to be run by the government but this is the first time that one of them have actually received the honor of a direct government investigation. Could that perhaps mean that it is actually run by disgruntled government employees? Frankly, I wouldn’t be particularly surprised if it is. Meanwhile, the ACLU is expected to represent @ALT_USCIS  in the hearings that will take place in association with this lawsuit.
