We know you are anxious, and we know most of you haven’t been able to either livestream or make it to the event. So, without holding your anxiousness for any long, here’s a no-nonsense post on what the S8 holds inside. A more opinionated and detailed piece coming up later via Mudit’s hand.

As rumoured, the phone features a bezel-less display, thus giving you more screen and a completely new form factor. Samsung is calling it the ‘Infinity display’. Available in 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+, the Infinity Display and bezel-less design form a smooth, continuous surface with no buttons or harsh angles.

Both the phones are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 from both back and the front.[mks_pullquote align=”left” width=”300″ size=”24″ bg_color=”#dd3333″ txt_color=”#ffffff”]These are the first phones to be certified by the UHD alliance for their displays.[/mks_pullquote]

The Galaxy S8, looks to bank upon Samsung’s one strong suit — its camera. The phone packs in yet another powerful camera from Samsung, which along with taking HD images, also works towards using lesser power from your phone’s battery. Both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are equipped with an advanced 8MP F1.7 Smart autofocus front camera and 12MP F1.7 Dual Pixel rear camera for the best low-light, zoom and anti-blur photos with enhanced image processing.

As for performance, Samsung has devised an all new, industry-first 10nm processor, enabling heightened speed and efficiency. It is also gigabit LTE and gigabit Wi-Fi ready with support for up to 1 Gbps.

For security, Samsung is depending once again on its much trusted Knox solution. In addition, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ offer a wide selection of biometric technologies including a fingerprint scanner, iris scanner and facial recognition.

The phone also comes equipped with Samsung’s much-rumoured personal assistant Bixby, along with a multitude of software stack services powered by Google. At launch, Bixby’s Voice function will integrate with several Samsung native apps and features including Camera, Contacts, Gallery, Messages and Settings, with the plan to expand its capabilities to include more Samsung and third-party apps in the near future. Contextual awareness capabilities enable Bixby to offer personalized help based on what it continues to learn about the user’s interests, situation and location.

The search giant has also worked with Samsung for a more optimised screen ratio for the Galaxy S8.

Both the phones will be available starting April 21st this year. Stay tuned to know on India availability.
