Lenovo today announced the appointment of Subhankar Roy Chowdhury as the company’s new Human Resources (HR) head, Asia Pacific. Subhankar will now supervise and manage the human resources team while focussing on leadership development, cultural transformation, and further building up talent resources.
Prior to his new role, Subhankar was positioned as the executive director and global head of HR Strategy, M&A and HR Analytics at Lenovo. He will be accountable to Ken Wong, Senior VP and President for the Asia Pacific region. Ken oversees the overall business position in the APAC region and coordinates the activities of various department under him. Besides leading the company’s business, he will now assist Subhankar with his fresh responsibilities.
The latter has been garnered with a significant career stroke majorly due to his vast experience in HR space with Lenovo. Holding a master’s degree in personnel management and a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Subhankar has led the development of the company’s corporate HR strategy with his team.
He further also built a unique HR Analytics function to support HR strategy for Lenovo. He integrated HR models for numerous established businesses in the market and implemented them within the company’s ecosystem. Consulting support on HR in M&A programmes was also followed by Subhankar on a routine basis.
Keeping aside his service at the Chinese multinational technology company, he has worked as HR consulting manager and held HR generalist roles at Nokia, IBM Business Consulting, PwC, Siemens Information Systems and L&T in India, Middle East Africa, and South East Asia regions. The impressive portfolio itself speaks of Subhankar’s recent appraisal.
He will hold the office as APAC HR Head at Lenovo post the departure of Andrew Dahms, scheduled for the end of the financial year 2017.
