Though we’ll get to know the exact details and specifications for Samsung’s flagship device, Galaxy S8 in a good few more weeks, there is no harm second guessing the features. The Galaxy S8 is scheduled to launch on March 29 but the last mile to cross before the device’s launch is FCC Certification. Lining up with the procedure, both the devices, Galaxy S8 and the rumored S8+ have recently been sighted on the certification agency’s website.
The devices being spotted on the website suggest that Samsung wants to clear all hurdles so as to host a smooth launch when the time comes. Though the site was incapable of supplying official names for the handsets, but it did provide the reference model numbers — SM-G950 and SM-G955. The model numbers indicate the ability of these devices of being usable with almost every carrier in U.S. This means the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be unlocked devices. Hence, the models will support GSM, CDMA, and a plethora of LTE bands.
Now, for the intel we’ve gathered so far, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones will be made out of metal and glass sporting a curved display. The two phones will feature a minimal amount of bezel around the display which will be called ‘Infinity Display‘, with absolutely no bezel and curved display (similar to Galaxy S7 Edge) on the sides.
Reportedly, the devices are now expected to release globally on April 28th. While no reason for the delay has been given, the company has yet to accept the said release schedule for S8 devices. All we know at the moment is that they’ll be unveiled near the month’s end, with pre-orders expected to open by April 10th.
The Galaxy S8 will be available with a huge 5.8-inch screen whereas the Plus model will feature a 6.2-inch display. Samsung is also expected to follow the trend with the inclusion of an AI voice assistant called Bixby that will be accessible through a fourth hardware button on the left. This assistant will most likely be available across all native apps and based on S Voice or Viv — not entirely sure.
Moreover, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will ship with on-screen buttons, as Samsung is deserting its the physical home key. A fingerprint scanner is also expected to be included on the back, next to the camera, of both of these handsets.
