Along with announcing Mi 5C as the first company custom chip equipped device, Xiaomi also took the wraps off another smartphone — Redmi 4X, at the same event. While the company detailed out all the relevant specs for the Redmi 4X, it skipped on the availability of the smartphone. Unlike Mi 5C, the Redmi 4X is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and coupled with 2GB/ 3GB of RAM.
The handset features an all-metal body embedded with a fingerprint scanner at the rear panel. The phone will be launched in two variants varying in terms of storage capacity. The first one sporting 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB storage has been priced at $101.76 (CNY 699) while the other second, with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage has been priced at $130.88 (CNY 899). Both the variants are expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card slot.
Redmi 4X offers a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) screen featuring a 2.5D curved glass display. The phone will be released in three colors which include Cherry Pink, Champagne Gold, and Matte Black.
One of the most distinctive features of the phone is its massive battery with a 4100 mAh capacity. Redmi 4X runs on the Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 based on the Android operating system. Apart from color and storage options, the consumers can choose between a handset with two SIM cards or a device supporting microSD card along with a SIM.
In the camera section, Redmi 4X offers a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. For the front camera, the device packs in a 5-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture. The device weighs 150 gms and targets the mid-budget market. Along with sporting an infrared sensor, the Redmi 4X supports 4G VoLTE and other connectivity options. The phone enhances Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup and is expected to bring in reliable revenues for the company.
